FAQ

FAQ

My tap timer makes a funny noise and does not open.

If that is the case please try the following recommended solutions:

  • If you are running a low pressure drip system, you need to install an Air Release Valve (102646) at the highest point of your system and above your drippers.
  • This breaks this the air in the drip line and allows to suck in air through the air release valve and prevents the drippers from blocking due to dirt.
This also allows for the diaphragm to work properly.

Can I run this off a gravity-fed or low-pressure system?

  • This timer is not suitable for low pressure applications. It is designed for normal tap pressure 250kPa to 600kPa.

My timer shows it is watering but there is no water coming thru?

  • There may be an airlock in the system. Disconnect the timer and reset it. Flush your irrigation system before attaching to the timer again.

Is my timer suitable for short-run drip or micro spray irrigation?

  • Yes, although a pressure reducer placed on the tap, before the timer is recommended. If only running a few drippers or sprayers, it is not suitable. Use the CO1603.

How do I reset my timer?

  • Simply remove the battery for 5-10 mins then reinsert. Your timer will be reset to default.

Is it OK to use my timer over winter?

  • We do not recommend the use of your timer over the winter period. It will not handle low temperatures, below 3 degrees Celsius may damage the timer. We advise the timer to be removed over the winter period, or allowed to drain if left on the tap.

Can I get spare parts for my timer?

  • Yes, some parts are available for this timer. For more information, please contact us.

Preparing tap timers for winter

  • Be sure you check with your local water authorities for any sprinkler bans
  • We recommend either reducing the watering time or turning it off completely
  • In really cold climates, we suggest that you remove the battery and make sure there is no water left inside the tap timer
  • If you live in an area that gets frost, we recommend taking off the tap timer completely and storing it away for the meantime

Very poor. (Melbourne, Australia)
Did not last up to 2 months

Did not last up to 2 months before it completely stopped working. Absolutely don’t recommend this product. Total waste of money.

Poorly designed product

The split case design of the second generation version with the unsealed wavy edges at the back allows water to leak into the electrical parts and short them out, especially if the timer happens to be leaning slightly forward at the top.

It may be a bit obvious to say that a product which is for use in a wet environment with water under pressure should be waterproof, which this certainly isn’t- so it’s pretty obvious that Holman doesn’t know how to effectively validate their own products as being fit for purpose otherwise this would never have got to market at this faulty level.

The acrylic screw face doesn’t stop the leak (which comes from the back) but is handy for monitoring how high the water level is inside the timer.

It’s okay to buy it - but just don’t put it near water.

Happy Chappy

I brought this timer about 6 months ago and today I have finally unpackaged and installed. Using it to water our two lawns and cannot fault the product. Timer works to the second and can only expect further continuous efficient watering times ahead.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We hope you enjoy many more watering days with your new tap timer 😊
Thanks, The Holman Team

Not the best - short term use only.

Had it connected to our tank via an electric pump. Uses 9v batteries and it gets expensive to run. After 6 months it started misting up, leaking internally. 9 months later it doesn't work.

Problematic timer

Issues with this timer from day one.
Comes on when we don’t want it on and then doesn’t switch off when time has run out.
Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Holman again

OAnother Holman product that fails went to use it again this year and it has seized up surely you should get more than one or two years from a $40 product

Hi Andrew, we're sorry that your Tap Timer has failed! We recommend storing tap timers away during Winter to avoid prolonged exposure to cold weather, especially if your area is prone to frost. Thank you.

Battery brand

Holman specify an alkaline battery for this timer. However only Duracell alkaline batteries work.

Why is this?
